R Pi3 UART

I was wondering if support will be included for the onboard serial communications on the RPi3 as this will have an impact on costings for my project.
Kind Regards MMM
it seems there are different pi3 available in the field so it could be the case you have one where you have to wait for 14348 to have working WiFi
"Unfortunately not all of the Wifi fixes we hoped made it into pre-release build#14342. I am told the rest of the fixes will be available in 14348. As these build numbers are loosely chronological by date, I would expect availability next
week."
from release notes
https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/win10/releasenotesinsiderpreview
From build 14322:
The UART/Serial (miniUART) driver for the Raspberry PI 3 onboard serial port is included in this build.
Nope no on board wifi and no miniUART and im using build 14328, it also has problems restarting. Ill assume its the image to begin with and reflash the sd card tomorrow. Ill let you know how i get on.Kind Regards MMM
Hello MMM,
Have you been following the previous thread on this subject?
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bfcbec0f-bb3c-49cc-8471-66edbc1be46a/action?threadDisplayName=pi3-onboard-uart-not-available-core-iot-100142621000 Are you doing something different than the other folks? Note that their are already reports
back of the mini UART working so it would be interesting to capture what is different in your case. With that in mind, I am providing you with the following template to help you define your issue so that someone at Microsoft can reproduce it on their
device.
ENVIRONMENT:
What Computers, OS and devices are involved with this repro? How are they connected?
REPRO STEPS:
What steps would someone else need to follow to see the issue?
RESULTS:
What did you Expect to happen?
What did Actually happen?
NOTES:
Any other details/workarounds potentially related info
If you could fill out the template with as much detail as possible, it might give helpful folks a better starting point
Sincerest thanks,
IoTGirl
Hi IoT girl,
Sorry for the late reply ive been quite buisy in work. Yes i have been following that thread, was the first place i looked. I have attempted to recreate the condidtions myself a few times and i replicate the problem.
Environment - Dell Precision M4800 16g ddr3, I7-4710mq 2.5GHz, AMD firepro 5100. Windows 10 pro 1511 10586.318.
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B V1.2, Kingston 16Gb SDC10G2/16GB 31608-005.A00LF, miscro sd card adaptor
Repo Steps - Open CMD as administrator, run disk part, Select the SD card, run the clean command, run the create partition primary command, run the format command. Close CMD. Install the latest FFU. Open IoT dashboard, select set up new device, select
custom, select the following file location C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft IoT\FFU\RaspberryPi2\flash.ffu, select the formatted SD card, accept terms and conditions and then install. Safeley remove sd card by ejecting it, remove sd card from laptop,
insert into rpi and plug in power. First boot may have had USB devices plugged in as described below as well as local network connection.
Results - Takes at least an hour to first boot, when booted it does not detect any wifi device or UART device only the generic USB hub. If any attempt to restart is made it either hangs or attempts to do a file dump and restart to then hang. If i plug in
the official rPi wifi dongle it detects it, if i insert a CP2102 Module (USB to TTL) it detects it. If i insert the USB for the 2 point touch Illyama Pro Lite T2452MTS it detects it as an optical touch input and displays the mouse pointer.
Additional Info - Attempts have been made to overclock or rather standard clock the raspberry pi previously. No attempt has been made with this version of OS. RaspberryPibian detects all the hardware without a problem.
The deployment Image Servicing and management tool is at version 10.0.10586
I have found an older image installed on my computer this may have been corrupting it, however i can no longer use IoT hub to install the correct image it wont allow me to select a device. I am also reinstallign the ADK incase that was causing the problem.
If i think of anything else i will add it later.
Further to this , i have installed the 14322 image and all seems to be working on that one used the same process. Even used a new rPi 3 to test with. Still cant get the wifi or miniuart to work in image 14328.
Kind Regards MMM
